Balearia announce winter fleet reshuffle

September 29. With the end of September approaching, Balearia have announced the following rotations in their fleet:


No refugee ferry for Lesvos, after all

September 29. A Greek government plan to charter a ferry to accommodate refugees stranded on the Aegean island of Lesvos appears to have been shelved.


Route acquisition approved

September 28. DFDS’ acquisition of the ro-pax ferry serive between Paldiski, Estonia, and Hanko, Finland has been approved by the Estonian competition authority.


Bremen based shipyard Luerssen acquires Blohm+Voss

September 28. Family owned and Bremen based shipyard, Luerssen and Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg are embarking on a new future together.


Cruise ship ALBATROS has technical problems

September 28. Phoenix' ALBATROS had to anchor in the River Weser, shortly after departing Bremerhaven, already with more than 12 hours delay.


Niclas Mårtensson takes over as CEO of Stena Line

September 28. Deputy CEO Niclas Mårtensson of Stena Line's board is appointed CEO as of 28 September 2016.


MV Werften to invest 75 million in Rostock yard

September 27. The shipyard group is to build a new production hall with an advanced laser-hybrid welding line in Rostock as part of its total investment plan. Contracts with Pemamek, Inros Lackner and Warnow Design were signed in Rostock.


HEBRIDES will proceed to dry dock in Greenock

September 27. Caledonian MacBrayne's ferry HEBRIDES, which was involved in an incident at Lochmaddy harbour on Sunday (September 25) due to a mechanical failure, will proceed to dry dock in Greenock for repairs.


CMAL bring in Norwegian contractors

September 27. Caledonian Maritime Assets have contracted Norwegian specialist Kongsberg Maritime to undertake engineering, procurement, construction and installation projects in connection with two new 100m dual-fuel passenger and vehicle ferries to be built on the River Clyde by Ferguson Marine Engineering for operation by Caledonian-MacBrayne.


Upgrade plans for P&O North Sea pair

September 27. P&O Ferries are set to invest heavily in passenger area upgrades of Hull-Zeebrugge route vessels PRIDE OF YORK and PRIDE OF BRUGES in the opening months of 2017 which is designed to extend their working lives by at least a further five years.


Another reprieve for FUNCHAL?

September 27. The veteran Portuguese cruise ship FUNCHAL has been laid up in Lisbon for about twenty months, since January 2015, following the closure of previous operator Portuscale Cruises. However, something new is cooking.


EL VENIZELOS to leave the Africa Morocco Link fleet

September 26. Africa Morocco Link announce that the charter of the EL VENIZELOS, from the Attica Group, will finish on September 30, and that the ferry will be returning to Greece.


Minoan wants Hellenic Seaways, no doubt

September 26. In a hard-hitting statement, the Grimaldi Group-controlled Minoan Lines has left no doubt it is keen to acquire control of Hellenic Seaways.


Weymouth ferry port days over?

September 26. No ferry facilities are included in development plans for the English South Coast port of Weymouth which boasted passenger and vehicle links with the Channel Islands and Cherbourg, France, from the 1960s and passenger sailings to Jersey and Guernsey dating right back to the 19th century.


CalMac to start new Scottish ferry contract

September 26. Caledonian MacBrayne begin a new eight year contract to operate Clyde and Hebrides ferry services from October 1, with managing director Martin Dorchester hailing the deal as the start of a fresh era for Western Scotland.


Extra ship and two daily DFDS departures on Rotterdam – Immingham

September 26. From October 2, DFDS will introduce FRIEDRICH RUSS as the fourth vessel on the route.


CalMac ferry HEBRIDES overshoots pier

September 25. Caledonian MacBrayne confirms that there was an incident with the car ferry HEBRIDES at Lochmaddy on North Uist. The incident occurred at 11:05 on Sunday (September 25) as the ferry, travelling from Tarbert on Harris, was approaching Lochmaddy Port.


Will the construction works on former Viking ADCC finally resume?

September 24. The Vigo-based Vulcano Shipyard announced that it had found a buyer for the unfinished hull of the ferry that was originally ordered by Viking Line and known as Viking ADCC.


More new ferries for Balearia

September 23. Adolfo Utor, President of Balearia, stated yesterday in a conference that Balearia are in negotiations with various shipyards to build a further two ferries, costing between €80m and €100m each.


What's up, Celestyal Cruises?

September 23. Celestyal Cruises gave some news about the company's near future via their social media channels. Early next year THOMSON MAJESTY and THOMSON SPIRIT will join the fleet, and there are plans for new ships.


Stena Line to charter CAROLINE RUSS for Dutch route

September 23. In response to demand on the routes from The Netherlands to Killingholme, Stena Line is to add additional capacity by introducing a second ship from Europoort to Killingholme.

運輸安全委員会

2016年9月29日、運輸安全委員会は、2015年7月に商船三井フェリーのカー・フェリー「さんふらわあ だいせつ」で起きた火災についての調査途中経過を公表した。

それによると、冷凍車の電気配線が短絡して火元となった可能性があり、また冷凍車の上の甲板の積み荷の中にカセットコンロ用ガスボンベが約1050本が入っており、延焼の一因になった可能性があるという。荷主は「雑貨」と申告していた。

内海造船(株)

2016年9月28日、内海造船は、瀬戸田工場(広島県尾道市)で建造中の光洋海運向け「ブルーハピネス」(8800gt)を進水したと発表した。同船は2017年3月に、津軽海峡フェリーの函館−青森航路に就航する。
