国土交通省港湾局

2018年2月27日、国土交通省港湾局は、鹿児島港を「官民連携による国際クルーズ拠点」を形成する港湾に選定したと発表した。鹿児島県とRoyal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.が連携し、新岸壁を20年間、優先的に利用させることになる予定。

JR東日本秋田支社

2018年2月23日、JR東日本秋田支社は、2018年4月18日から11月3日までの延べ12日間に、秋田―秋田港間などでクルーズ船客を対象にした専用列車「あきたクルーズ号」を運行すると発表した。キハ48形ディーゼル・カーを改造した車両を使用する。
